CHERNOBYL AND FUKUSHIMA COMPARED. FUKUSHIMA SETS NEW RECORDS FOR RADIOACTIVITY

Radioactive materials from Fukushima Daiichi reached the US by March 18, Iceland by March 20, and Europe by March 22 (Kyushu University and Tokyo University research. From Jiji Press).
HAS AMERICAN MAINSTREAM MEDIA PUBLISHED THIS IMAGE FROM 2013 BY THE  SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY OFFICE IN TOKYO, PROVIDED TO THEM BY TEPCO, PRESENTED TO THE EMBASSY OF SWITZERLAND IN JAPAN WHICH SHOWS THE CORIUM DEEP IN THE EARTH BENEATH THE REACTOR?

ALTHOUGH LINKS REMAIN TO THIS VERY IMAGE ON TEPCO'S WEBSITE, IT HAS NOW BEEN SCRUBBED OR REPLACED.

WHY?
A MUCH LARGER IMAGE CAN BE SEEN <HERE>.

THE TEA ROOM IS WEARY OF MAINSTREAM MEDIA REPEATEDLY DOWNPLAYING THE ONGOING EFFECTS OF THE FUKUSHIMA DAIICHI DISASTER AND CONTINUING TO TELL AMERICANS THAT CHERNOBYL WAS WORSE.

THAT'S RATHER LIKE TELLING THE DYING MAN SHOT IN THE HEAD WITH A .22 CALIBER BULLET THAT LARGER ROUNDS OF AMMO EXIST...."AT LEAST IT WASN'T A .357 ROUND..."

READ THE FOLLOWING, SEE THE "COMPARISON" THROUGHOUT AND AT THE END OF THIS POST TODAY.
YOU WILL PERHAPS REALIZE HOW THERE IS NO REAL COMPARISON.

CHERNOBYL, AS TERRIBLE AS IT WAS AND IS, WILL NEVER MATCH DAIICHI FOR SHEER VOLUME OF RADIOACTIVE EMISSIONS, WASTE, TONNAGE OF FUEL RODS, AND CONTINUAL FALLOUT.

BACK DURING THE FIRST TWO YEARS WHEN SOME IN MAINSTREAM MEDIA DID GIVE A DAMN, HUFFINGTON POST DID A FAIR ARTICLE ON WHAT WE CAN EXPECT:

"FUKUSHIMA FOREVER"!

"A meta-study published in 2007 of 136 reactor sites in seven countries, extended to include children up to age 9, found childhood leukemia increases of 14 percent to 21 percent.
University professors have declared that the health effects of Fukushima are "negligible," will cause "close to no deaths," and that much of the damage was "really psychological." Extensive and expensive follow-up on citizens from the Fukushima area, the experts say, is not worth it. There is doubt a direct link will ever be definitively made, one expert said. The head of the U.S. National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements, said: "There's no opportunity for conducting epidemiological studies that have any chance of success....The doses are just too low."

We have heard this in 1945, at TMI, at Chernobyl, and for normally running power plants.
It is surprising that respected scientists refuse to make another test of such an important null hypothesis: that there are no discernible effects of low-level radiation."
SURPRISING?
NO, NOT WHEN SO MUCH IS AT STAKE FINANCIALLY.
ECONOMICS DROVE THE JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER TO REFUSE TO EVACUATE TOKYO.
ECONOMICS DRIVES AMERICAN GOVERNMENT TO ALLOW THE HANFORD SITE TO CONTINUE KILLING PEOPLE...CLEANUP IS JUST TOO "COSTLY", AND DAMN THE COST IN HUMAN LIVES!

NO, CHERNOBYL WAS NOT WORSE.
CHERNOBYL'S SINGLE, AS IN ONE, NUCLEAR REACTOR CORE NEVER CAME IN CONTACT WITH GROUNDWATER, AND WE KNOW IT MELTED INTO WHAT IS CALLED AN "ELEPHANT'S FOOT", AND EVERYONE KNOWS WHERE THAT "FOOT" IS.

The Elephants Foot of the Chernobyl disaster. Photo was taken later after the radiation weakened.
SOURCE: RARE HISTORICAL PHOTOS

"Even today, almost 30 years later, if people stood in the room with the elephant's foot -shaped melted core, everyone would die in eight minutes.

WHY DO WE TRY TO IGNORE THAT FUKUSHIMA IS AN ONGOING DISASTER?
IT HASN'T ENDED AND WON'T END IN OUR LIFETIMES!

The ongoing migration of extremely radioactive water at Fukushima Daiichi is making the cleanup 100 times more complicated and 100 times more expensive than Chernobyl.
To date, the cleanup of the Chernobyl site has cost more $3 Billion without adding in the cost of the ongoing exclusion zone wildfires that are spewing massive amounts of radioactivity back into the atmosphere.

Fukushima will cost half a trillion.

The only way Japan's banks can be compensated for this tremendous cash outlay is if those shutdown nuclear plants are restarted. "
EVEN THE "DAILY KOS" SAW THROUGH THE COVERUP!

EVEN THE KOS!

"As Fukushima goes from bad to worse, the worldwide coverup of health effects goes into overdrive.

It is well known and well documented that certain types of radiation emitted by certain radioactive isotopes released by bombs, burning spent reactor fuel, melting/exploding reactors, and medical/extraneous exposures cause thyroid cancer, leukemias, organ cancers, bone cancers, etc.

These cancers can take awhile after exposure to show up - usual range given as anywhere from 5 to 50 years - but if the doses are high enough it doesn't take long at all.

But, as with assurances after the meltdowns at Chernobyl and Three Mile Island, we are told that it's the fear of radiation that really causes all the known health effects of radiation exposure.

Bet you didn't know that fear of radioactive iodine (several isotopes) causes thyroid cancer, did you? That's because it doesn't. Radioactive iodine does. Primarily in children. It does worse things to the fetuses of pregnant women."

WHO HAS THE FACTS?

WHO IS HIDING THEM?
Symposium sponsored by Consortium for Japan Relief — Chim Pom, published Feb 2015: “Media never reported that the whole process — meltdown, melt-through, and so-called melt-out — happened, was done within a few days after the earthquake.”

FUKUSHIMA'S OWNERS, TEPCO AND THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT, HAVE REPEATEDLY ADMITTED THEY DON'T WHERE THE HELL THREE, AS IN 1+1+1, REACTOR CORES ARE, ADMIT THAT THEY DO KNOW THAT THREE HAVE COME IN CONTACT WITH GROUNDWATER, DO KNOW THAT THREE REACTOR BUILDINGS ARE LEAKING DEADLY RADIATION INTO THE ENVIRONMENT EVERY SINGLE DAY, DO KNOW THE STORAGE TANKS AND DRUMS STACKED OUTSIDE ARE CORRODING, DO KNOW THAT A LITTLE THING CALLED "EARTHSHINE" IS COMMON THERE NOW, AND, UNLIKE AT CHERNOBYL WHERE A CONCRETE SARCOPHAGUS ENTOMBED THE OFFENDING REACTOR SITE, FUKUSHIMA'S REACTOR BUILDINGS ARE EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS DAILY...WITH ROOFS OFF OR DAMAGED.

THERE IS NO SEMBLANCE OF A "SHIELD" TO STOP ANY OF THE LEAKING RADIATION...NO "MAGIC UMBRELLA" OVER THE FACILITY, NOTHING TO CATCH THE RADIOACTIVE WATER BENEATH THE FACILITY BEFORE IT POISONS THAT MAJOR AQUIFER...AND NO BARRICADE TO STOP RADIOACTIVE WATER FROM POURING INTO THE PACIFIC INCESSANTLY, ALL DAY, EVERY DAY,

FOR MORE THAN 1,600 DAYS NOW.

THE PRIME MINISTER AT THE TIME OF THE DISASTER IN JAPAN HAS COME FORWARD WITH A FEW TRUTHS.
HE THINKS FUKUSHIMA IS MANY TIMES WORSE THAN CHERNOBYL, AMD MENTIONS THAT "CHINA SYNDROME".

[NOTE: PARTS OF THE FOLLOWING INTERVIEW WITH THE EX- PRIME MINISTER WERE ALSO PUBLISHED IN THE JAPAN TIMES, <HERE>]

"Naoto Kan, Japan’s prime minister at the time, explains how he came to oppose nuclear power while still in office, as he weighed Tokyo’s evacuation.

"It’s impossible to totally prevent any kind of accident or disaster happening at the nuclear power plants," Kan says. "And so, the one way to prevent this from happening, to prevent the risk of having to evacuate such huge amounts of people, 50 million people, and for the purpose, for the benefit of the lives of our people, and even the economy of Japan, I came to change the position, that the only way to do this was to totally get rid of the nuclear power plants."

ASKED HOW HE MADE THE DECISIONS THAT HE MADE AT THE ONSET OF THE DISASTER, KAN SAID:

"And one of the first things that we set up this center to try and do was to find out what the actual situation in the plant was, what was really happening, and also try to make predictions about what would happen from there. However, at that time, at first, it was almost impossible to have any kind of accurate information.

However, even at the night of that first day of March 11, what I was being told, being reported, was that the water levels were safely above the level of where the fuel rods were located within the container. And, however, now we know that actually the measuring equipment to measure the water level was broken at that time. And only four hours after the earthquake occurred, actually, was when it experienced meltdown in the reactor one. And even through the container of thickness 20 centimeters, there was actually a hole being burned through, and melted fuel had been actually leaking through to the outside of the container. And now we know this information, that this was happening at 7:00 p.m. approximately on that day.
But at the time, none of this information was accurately conveyed to me.

And this was actually the first incident of an accident where a hole in the pressure container was actually—or a hole had been created.

Even at the time of the Three Mile accident, while there was a partial fuel meltdown inside the container, it wasn’t gone to the extent of actually having a hole in the container and leaking through in this way.
So the Fukushima accident was the first accident to actually melt down in this kind of way.
And it was a situation very close to what we call perhaps the "China syndrome."

IT WASN'T "CLOSE TO" A CHINA SYNDROME", IT HAS BECOME JUST THAT.

TIME MAGAZINE TOLD US AS MUCH IN 2011!

"The China Syndrome refers to a scenario in which a molten nuclear reactor core could could fission its way through its containment vessel, melt through the basement of the power plant and down into the earth.

While a molten reactor core wouldn’t burn “all the way through to China” it could enter the soil and water table and cause huge contamination in the crops and drinking water around the power plant. It’s a nightmare scenario,
the stuff of movies.

And it might just have happened at Fukushima.

It’s difficult to say for sure just how bad things are at the plant itself—high radioactive levels mean that engineers can’t get close to the reactor cores themselves and can only make inferences, deductions and guesses about the extent of the damage. "
MANY BELIEVE THAT, WHEN THEN PRIME MINISTER NAOTO KAN WAS PRESENTED WITH "WORSE CASE SCENARIO" AND WAS CONSIDERING EVACUATING 40% OF JAPAN, THAT THE CHINA SYNDROME WAS ALREADY AT WORK.
SOME WHO THINK THIS WAS THE CASE HAVE MUCH LONGER EXPERIENCE WITH NUCLEAR ENERGY AND FAR MORE "CREDENTIALS" THAN ANYONE JAPAN HAS TROTTED OUT TO MEET THE PRESS, I ASSURE YOU!

EXCUSING HIS REFUSAL TO EVACUATE TOKYO, KAN SAID:
   "
From what I was hearing from the headquarters of TEPCO, and in particular from Mr. Takeguro, who was the former vice president, was—had almost no accurate information being conveyed about what was actually the situation on site."

"And one other important and serious issue at the time also was, in the case of a nuclear disaster, the system which was in place, well, the prime minister and the prime minister’s office would be in the head of, you know, the measures to be taken, the office, of what to be done from there.
But the bureaucratic organization which was established to support that function was within the NISA, which is actually located within the Ministry of the Economy.
And so, the person who was seconded to explain to me from the NISA about what was happening was actually not an expert on nuclear issues or nuclear power, but an economic expert.
And so, through his explanation, it was impossible to know the actual situation of what was happening in the reactor.
WORSE THAN CHERNOBYL:    "So, at the time, what I was thinking about was about the accident at Chernobyl.
Of course, the accident there was of huge scale, but there was one reactor in this case, in Chernobyl.
However, when we were thinking about the situation at Fukushima, at the Daiichi plant, there are six reactors and seven spent fuel pools.

And then, 12 kilometers from there, at the Daini, the second Fukushima nuclear power plant, there are four additional reactors and four spent fuel pools, meaning that when you combine both Daiichi and Daini together, there’s 10 reactors and 11 spent fuel pools altogether.

And if we were to lose control of all of this, it would mean that the accident, the disaster, could be on a scale of many tens or even hundred times more radioactive materials being released than what happened at Chernobyl. "
[NOTE: THIS INTERVIEW CONTINUES BELOW, FURTHER ALONG IN THIS POST.]
"Dr. Michio Kaku, a world renowned CUNY theoretical physicist pointed out on CNN March 18, 2011,

"Chernobyl involved one reactor and only 57.6 tons of the reactor core that went into the atmosphere.

In dramatic contrast, the Fukushima Daiichi disaster immediately involved six reactors and an IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency, a UN Agency) documented 2,800 tons of highly radioactive reactor cores.

Where did these nuclear reactor cores go? "

CHERNOBYL DOES NOT HAVE ACRES UPON ACRES OF FLIMSY HOLDING CONTAINERS FULL OF NUCLEAR WASTE SITTING ABOUT, STACKED UP LIKE TIN CANS, SHAKEN BY FREQUENT EARTHQUAKES.

CHERNOBYL DOESN'T HAVE UNGUARDED (OR ANY) LOUSY PLASTIC BAGS FULL OF SCRAPED-UP CONTAMINATED SOIL SITTING ON SCHOOL PLAYGROUNDS AND BURIED IN PUBLIC PARKS LIKE JAPAN HAS.

DOES ANYONE BELIEVE THOSE AREN'T EMITTING RADIATION?

NOR IS CHERNOBYL SITTING OVER A MAJOR AQUIFER.

NOR IS CHERNOBYL AT OCEAN'S EDGE.

NOR IS CHERNOBYL PRODUCING RADIOACTIVE STEAM.

NOR ARE CHERNOBYL RADIATION LEVELS HITTING NEW HISTORIC HIGHS EVERY BLOODY WEEK LIKE DAIICHI IS.

NOR IS ANYONE AT CHERNOBYL BURNING RADIOACTIVE RUBBLE AND CONTAMINATED CLOTHING, ETC, AT NIGHT, OFFSHORE, "SECRETLY"  (IT'S NO SECRET!) IN ANY HARBOR, NOR ONSHORE AT HUNDREDS OF GOVERNMENT-APPROVED BURN SITES.

FUKUSHIMA IS SEEING ALL THOSE THINGS AND MORE!

RESIDENTS IN THE HEAVIEST FALLOUT AREAS WERE NOT EVACUATED AS QUICKLY AS RESIDENTS WERE FOLLOWING THE CHERNOBYL MELTDOWN (AS YOU WILL SEE IN THE INTERVIEW WITH THE EX-PRIME MINISTER OF JAPAN, NAOTO KAN, BELOW.

MANY MORE PEOPLE WERE LEFT IN HIGH FALLOUT AREAS IN JAPAN, WERE EVEN ENCOURAGED TO REMAIN IN PLACE, THAN EVER LIVED NEAR CHERNOBYL, AND THOSE PEOPLE WILL SEE THE AFFECTS OF THAT FOR DECADES TO COME!

ANOTHER VERY MAJOR FACT THAT MAINSTREAM MEDIA NEGLECTS AND HOPES AMERICANS DON'T QUESTION IS THAT, NEAR CHERNOBYL, CANCER AND BIRTH DEFECTS AND MANY ILLNESSES CAUSED BY OR EXAGGERATED BY RADIATION ARE ONGOING AFTER ALMOST 30 YEARS.

PEOPLE ARE STILL DYING FROM THE MELTDOWN AT CHERNOBYL.
RECENT WILDFIRES THERE AND GOVERNMENT REACTION TO THEM HAVE DEMONSTRATED HOW SERIOUS THE REMAINS OF THE INITIAL FALLOUT IN THE CHERNOBYL ENVIRONMENT IS TODAY, AS FIREFIGHTERS RUSHED TO KEEP THOSE FIRES FROM BURNING CONTAMINATED BRUSH, LEAVES, GRASS AND TREES IN THAT TOXIC AREA.
THEY ISSUED NEW FALLOUT WARNINGS TO ALL RESIDENTS ANYWHERE WHO WERE IN THE PATH OF THAT RADIOACTIVE SMOKE.

AND IN JAPAN?
THERE WERE KNOWN HUNDREDS OF SITES INITIALLY SENDING UP RADIOACTIVE SMOKE AND ALMOST A HUNDRED, FROM WHAT I COULD FIND, ARE "OFFICIALLY" STILL CURRENTLY ACCEPTING AND BURNING RADIOACTIVE RUBBLE, CLOTHING, BRUSH AND GRASS ACROSS JAPAN.

[NOTE: THE HYPERLINK GIVEN DIRECTLY BELOW, PERHAPS BECAUSE OF THE MANDATED MEDIA CENSORSHIP, NO LONGER LEADS TO THAT STORY, "ERROR 404 Not Found. The requested url was not on this server"BUT IT IS ARCHIVED.]

Rubble from quake- and tsunami-hit areas to be disposed in Tokyo, Mainichi, September 29, 2011:
"Tokyo decided to process rubble from disaster-hit areas after detecting only 133 becquerels of radioactive cesium per kilogram of ash generated after rubble was incinerated

The metropolitan government intends to transport approximately 500,000 metric tons of rubble to facilities in the capital and dispose of them over a 2 1/2-year period from this coming October to March 2014.

The waste will be separated into burnable and unburnable items.

Burnable waste will be incinerated."
THIS LEVEL IN 500,000 METRIC TONS OF WASTE AMOUNTS TO THE GOVERNMENT ALLOWING 100,000 BECQUERELS OF JUST RADIOACTIVE CESIUM... "OR LESS"... TO BE SENT ALOFT!

HALF THAT, ANY OF THAT, CAN KILL!
MAYBE NOT TOMORROW, BUT ANOTHER THING NO MAJOR MEDIA IS ADDRESSING IS "BIOACCUMULATION"...WHEN A HARMFUL SUBSTANCE BUILDS AND BUILDS WITHIN A FOOD CHAIN, OR WHEN A LIVING BODY IS CONTANTLY EXPOSED.

IT IS A WELL KNOWN FACT THAT A FISH FROM THE CONTAMINATED OCEAN WILL SHOW 40 TIMES MORE RADIOACTIVE TISSUE THAN IS FOUND IN THE WATER IT SWIMS IN!

WHO IN THE MAJOR MEDIA IS TALKING ABOUT BIOACCUMULATION?
WHO'S TALKING ABOUT THE DAMAGE ALL RADIATION DOES TO HUMAN (AND ANIMAL) DNA?

HERE IN THE U.S. OUR NUCLEAR WASTE OF THE SAME LEVEL THAT IS BEING OPENLY BURNED IN JAPAN IS BURIED DEEPLY, ANDMUST REMAIN THERE FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS!

THIS ALSO MEANS THAT CLOUDS OF RADIATION WILL RISE, SPREAD, FALL AGAIN ON DECONTAMINATED AREAS AND ON AREAS NOT PREVIOUSLY AS SERIOUSLY AFFECTED BY THE INITIAL FALLOUT!

DOES THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT TAKE THAT INTO CONSIDERATION?
DOES OUR GOVERNMENT WARN US ABOUT THIS?
NO!

BUT THEY WERE AWARE THIS WAS TOO MUCH RADIATION!

SEE THE ARTICLE <HERE> IN WHICH ....

"N
uclear engineer Shih-Yew Chen of Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois, because cesium dust stays underfoot while air is transient. Levels of cesium-137 are also more important than soil readings of iodine-131, which is short-lived and more of a concern in milk and vegetables.

"It's the cesium that would prompt an evacuation," says Chen.

Based on a rough estimate, a person standing on soil with 163,000 Bq/kg of cesium-137 would receive about 150 millisieverts per year of radiation, says Chen. This is well above the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency standard of 50 millisieverts per year for an evacuation. The hot spot is similar to levels found in some areas affected by the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear reactor accident in the former Soviet Union.

Assuming the radiation is no more than 2 centimeters deep, Chen calculates that 163,000 Bq/kg is roughly equivalent to 8 million Bq/m
2

The highest cesium-137 levels in some villages near Chernobyl were 5 million Bq/m2."      [Also posted in Asia Japan Quake 2011]

HIGHER UP ON THE RUNG OF "ACCEPTABLE EXPERTS":

After obtaining her Ph.D., Dr. Deanne Idar acquired over two decades of experience in service to Los Alamos National Laboratory’s science, technology, and engineering R&D programs supporting tactical and strategic national security missions.]

"
Dr. Deanne J. Idar, CIV OSD POLICY],

Given that much of the call was spent describing the current radiological status on the ground in Japan, I think a short summary of that status would be useful in the telecon summary. Here is a proposed paragraph:
“The nuclear accident in Japan has resulted in widespread deposition of radioactive contamination throughout the northern part of Japan, including the metropolitan Tokyo area.
Surface contamination levels in this entire region would be required to be posted as radiological area if they were at a U.S. licensed facility or DOE site.
Any materials leaving Japan have the potential for low levels of radioactive contamination. "

[ALSO VIEWED <HERE>]
ANY MATERIALS?
ALL MATERIALS?
YES!

WILL THE DRIFT OF ALL THAT SMOKE REACH THE U.S.?
HASN'T IT BEFORE?
WHAT DO AIR CURRENT MAPS SHOW?

PEOPLE ON THE WEST COAST WERE JUST BLASTED WITH THE SMOKE FROM THE CHERNOBYL WILDFIRES AS WELL, BUT NO ONE HEADLINED THAT IN OUR MEDIA, EITHER!

WHAT JAPAN IS BURNING, THAT RADIOACTIVE "DEBRIS", IS COMPARABLE TO LEVELS FOUND IN THE CHERNOBYL EXCLUSION ZONE TODAY!
MORE RESEARCH PAPERS EXIST ON THE CONTINUED EFFECTS OF CHERNOBYL THAN I CARE TO COUNT, AND, YES, YES, MANY, IN FACT ALL SUCH CHERNOBYL "STUDIES" REFERENCED HERE IN THE TEA ROOM ARE "PEER-REVIEWED", AS IF THERE EXIST "PEERS" OUTSIDE THE AFFECTED AREA THERE.

WHO ARE THE "PEERS" OF CHERNOBYL OR FUKUSHIMA?
SOME SCIENTIST WHO MAKES THE JOURNEY TO EITHER PLACE, DRESSED IN THE BEST PROTECTIVE GEAR AVAILABLE, NEVER EXCEEDING DOSE RATES?
SOMEONE WHO READS ABOUT THE DISASTER?
SOMEONE WHO TAKES THE WORD OF THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT OR TEPCO OFFICIALS WHO DAILY ARE REVEALED FOR THE LIES THEY'VE TOLD US ALL?

NO!

UNLESS YOU LIVE WITH THAT EVERY DAY OF YOUR LIFE, LIVE BENEATH THE INVISIBLE 'CLOUD' OF ONGOING RADIATION, DRINK THE WATER, EAT THE FOOD GROWN IN JAPAN OR THE LAND AFFECTED BY CHERNOBYL, WALK THE CONTAMINATED EARTH, UNLESS YOU ARE AFFECTED BY IT, YOU ARE NO "PEER" TO THOSE WHO DAILY SURVIVE IT, NOR TO THOSE WHO SUCCUMB TO IT!

ASK THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE THERE!
AS YOU WILL SEE LATER, NO ONE FROM OUR GOVERNMENT INTENDS TO SEE A SINGLE SURVIVOR FOR ANY REASON...SCIENTIFIC STUDY OR "HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS"!

26th April 2011: On the 25th Anniversary of the Chernobyl Catastrophe,
mindful of the continuing discord over the extent of its impact on health,
and mindful of the implications of that discord for public safety in regions affected by radioactivity from Fukushima, the Committee has published an appraisal of the global health consequences of the Chernobyl accident.

20th March 2011: In the present emergency in Japan, and mindful of the lack of detailed information on radiological aspects, the Committee has published an Advice Note. The Committee has applied its own methodology to such data as was available to calculate expected levels of cancer in exposed populations. Link
Similarly, the Committee publishes an Advice Note on calculating the risks of ingested Iodine 131. Link.

April 2010: Committee publishes new Recommendations. ECRR 2010: The Health Effects of Ionising Radiation Exposure at Low Doses and Low Dose Rates for Radiation Protection Purposes.

"As a result, internal radiation exposure can be “up to 1,000 times more harmful than the ICRP model concludes."

As a response to the Fukushima catastrophe a pdf of the Recommendations is free to download (1.35 Mb)

LISTEN TO THIS MAN, PLEASE!
Scientific Secretary of the European Committee on Radiation Risk:

"
Unusual amounts of plutonium HAVE been found on the west coast of the United States and elsewhere.
Radioactive materials have also been found in milk and water in the US.

Plutonium has also been found in the UK in [NON-AUTO] air filters.

This means that particles are now being globally dispersed.

I do not think plutonium is much more dangerous than the other alpha emitters, particularly Uranium, on a dose for dose basis.

I think the danger is in Uranium, Tritium, Strontium-90, Carbon-14, Tellurium-132.
I have found Te-132 in car filters from Japan... from Fukushima and Tokyo.

In my March/April paper I predicted more than 200,000 additional cancers in the next 10 years within a 200 KM radius of Fukushima.

AND ALSO  The health outcome of the Fukushima catastrophe Initial analysis from risk model of the European Committee on Radiation Risk ECRR]

I have seen nothing to change my mind.

I have been helping some lawyers who are making a legal case to have the children evacuated.

The problem is that dose rate, MicroSieverts per Hour, cannot be used to reassure on the basis of comparisons with annual natural background. The exposures are internal and the risk model of the ICRP, which is based (ironically) on the external exposures at Hiroshima, cannot be used. This is the key issue. There is a more accurate model, the ECRR, one which has now been translated into Japanese and is available on the internet. (Link)

I believe that in the explosions at Fukushima Daiichi, huge amounts of spent fuel were blown sky high.

The ground contamination out to 100 km at Fukushima is worse than Chernobyl, the dose rates higher.

And Fukushima has contaminated Tokyo with 35 million people.

The population of [JUST] the 200 km radius is also enormous, about 10 million.

Most of the Chernobyl stuff fell away from big population centers. Luckily it went north and west and not to Kiev which is south.

Fukushima is still boiling its radionuclides all over Japan. Chernobyl went up in one go.
So Fukushima is worse."

THE ECRR MODEL HAS HELD UP EVEN IN COURTS AGAINST THE ICRP MODEL!
"This was long overdue, of course, since evidence has been available for more than 40 years that it was unsafe to use studies of external acute radiation to inform about risk from internal chronic exposures to evolutionarily novel radionuclides.

Such a scientific paradigm shift is not easy: the course and direction of the nuclear, military, economic and political machine dedicated to the development of nuclear energy and its military applications is monolithic and has massive inertia.

It was therefore surprising and encouraging that ECRR2003 received such attention, and effectively brought about a new and intense interest in the flaw in the then current philosophy of radiation risk: the physics-based concept of absorbed dose.
The support and encouragement for the new model, and its success in many court cases (where it was invariably set against the ICRP model) was perhaps assisted by the increasing evidence from Chernobyl fallout exposures and from examination of Depleted Uranium effects which were emerging at the time of ECRR2003."
There have also been developments in laboratory science that can be explained in the new model but are quite impossible to explain in the old ICRP model.

One of these is the understanding that elements of high atomic number, like Uranium (but also non-radioactive elements like Platinum, Gold etc.) have the ability to alter the absorption characteristics of tissues in which they are embedded.

Uranium is the central element around which the nuclear fuel cycle revolves, and huge quantities of the substance have been contaminating the biosphere since early in the last century.

It is therefore necessary to update the ECRR risk model and include consideration of these ‘phantom radiation effects’.

The widespread dispersion of Uranium from weapons usage has made it necessary to add a chapter on Uranium weapons.

Since its founding in Brussels in 1998, the ECRR has been joined by many eminent radiation scientists from many countries. It will be clear from this new revised edition, that the pressure on politicians and scientists to change their understanding of the health effects of ionizing radiation is now too great to ignore."

"Fukushima IS an apocalyptic disaster that will haunt future generations; The world is now an experimental lab with humans as guinea pigs."

"The basic difference between nuclear and other industrial accidents lies in the long-range repercussions… one could forget about the havoc wrought, for example, by the explosion of a gas pipeline or the breaching of a dam… But an accident in a nuclear power plant, such as a reactor getting out of control, is capable of doing more than immediate harm.

"Examples of the deadly long-term effects of a reactor accident ARE Chernobyl and Fukushima [which] will linger on for ages to haunt the future generations."

"Among the survivors there will be many cases of permanent sterility, increase of genetic mutation in our progenies, and a shortened life span as a result of cancer and other radiogenic diseases."

THAT DIDN'T MAKE THE OLD NIGHTLY NEWS HERE, EITHER!

WHAT WOULD PROVE THE TRUTH OF FUKUSHIMA'S EFFECTS?
TAKE THE JAPANESE VICTIMS TO UNBIASED, INDEPENDENT PHYSICIANS WHO ARE NOT INTIMIDATED BY THREATS AND WARNINGS BY THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT OR TEPCO OFFICIALS AND DO THE TESTS!

HAVE A LOOK THROUGH UNVEILED EYES!

LET THOSE HUMAN BODIES SHOW US WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON THERE!
STUDY THAT!

COLLECT SOIL SAMPLES, WATER SAMPLES, SAMPLES FROM AIR FILTERS ALL OVER JAPAN AND SEND THEM OFF TO UNIVERSITIES, INDEPENDENT LABS ALL OVER THE WORLD.
[AND LET AMERICA DO THE SAME THING HERE!]
GET THE FACTS AND END THE LIES!

MANY HAVE "STUDIED" AND CONTINUE TO "STUDY" THE VICTIMS OF CHERNOBYL, THE EFFECTS ON SOIL, WATER, AIR.
IT IS COMMON FOR A NEW GROUP OF RESEARCHERS TO HOP OVER TO THAT AREA OF THE WORLD AND BRING BACK DATA.

NOT SO IN JAPAN!

FROM DAY 1 DATA ON RADIATION LEVELS, THE DAMAGE TO THE REACTORS, THE EXPANSE OF THE CONTAMINATED AREA AND HEALTH REPORTS HAVE ALL BEEN HIDDEN, MANIPULATED AND BANNED FROM PUBLICATION IN THE MEDIA THERE.

JAPANESE PHYSICIANS, HEALTH CARE WORKERS, PARENTS AND SCIENTISTS HAVE ALL BEEN WARNED NOT TO SPREAD "RUMORS" OF THE DEATH AND ILLNESS THAT HAS BEEN ONGOING THERE.

Junichi Sato:"The Japanese government cannot simply increase safety limits for the sake of political convenience or to give the impression of normality."

PHYSICIANS WERE TOLD NEVER TO ATTRIBUTE ANY CANCER TO FUKUSHIMA RADIATION!

BUT MANY HAVE!

Dr. Shigeru Mita’s essay published in the newsletter of Association of Doctors in Kodaira (Tokyo), translated by WNSCR, July 16, 2014.

I have been worried about the possibility of radiation contamination in Tokyo, so I had repeatedly requested the medical association, the municipal government and the local public health department to stock medical iodine. However, every time my request was turned down; the reason given was that Tokyo did not expect such an event. Hence there was no plan for preparing for the event.

In the afternoon of March 11, 2011, Tokyo experienced slow but great motions in the earthquake. I thought, “now this is what’s called long-period seismic motions. The South Eastern Sea earthquake, with the following Hamaoka NPP accident, are finally coming”. Instead, the source of the earthquake was in Tohoku. The temperature of the reactors in Fukushima Daiichi NPP rose and it caused massive explosions, followed by meltdowns and melt-through.

It is clear that Eastern Japan and Metropolitan Tokyo have been contaminated with radiation.

Contamination of the soil can be shown by measuring Bq/kg. Within the 23 districts of Metropolitan Tokyo, contamination in the east part is 1000-4000 Bq/kg and the west part is 300-1000 Bq/kg. The contamination of Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine, is 500 Bq/kg (Ce137 only). West Germany after the Chernobyl accident has 90 Bq/kg, Italy has 100 and France has 30 Bq/kg on average. Many cases of health problems have been reported in Germany and Italy. Shinjuku, the location of the Tokyo municipal government, was measured at 0.5-1.5 Bq/kg before 2011. Kodaira currently has 200-300 Bq/kg contamination.
I recommend all of you to watch the NHK program, “ETV special: Chernobyl nuclear accident: Report from a contaminated land”, which is available on Internet. I think it is important to acknowledge what people who visited Belarus and Ukraine, and heard the stories of the locals, have seen and felt there, and listen to those who served in rescue operations in Chernobyl in the past more than 20 years.

Their experience tells them that Tokyo should no longer be inhabited, and that those who insist on living in Tokyo must take regular breaks in safer areas."

PRIME MINISTER KAN NEVER MENTIONS THIS IN THE INTERVIEW WE'VE BEEN READING, BUT SEVERAL WHO WERE WARNED NOT TO SPEAK OUT WERE BRAVE ENOUGH TO COME FORWARD...FOR AWHILE.
NAOTO KAN: And after this, I asked Mr. Kondo, who was the head of the nuclear committee, to simulate what a kind of worst-case scenario could be, and this simulation was presented to me on March the 23rd, I believe it was. And within this scenario, it said that the worst case could mean having to evacuate up to a 250-kilometer radius of the area, as in this map in my book, which I have just shown.

And this is almost the same as what I was fearing could be the worst scenario, personally, also.
And so, in the case where a 250-kilometer-radius area would have to be evacuated, that would involve 40 percent of the population of the whole country of Japan.

This is talking about a population of something like 50 million people.
And so, when we think about this, or thinking about Japan as a country in the long term, it would suffer extreme damage. And how to even consider functioning in such a situation? So we were really just on the verge of such a situation as this.

AMY GOODMAN: In their book, Strong in the Rain, the journalists Lucy Birmingham and David McNeill reported that when the NISA—that’s the Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency—spokesman Koichiro Nakamura let slip soon after the earthquake that meltdown was a possibility, meaning core fuel melt inside at least one of the reactors, he was removed from his post. Who removed him?
NAOTO KAN: [translated]
First of all, in regards to the meltdown, from the very first stages of after the disaster, I was speaking with, of course, the NISA, but also TEPCO and people from the nuclear safety committee and also other experts and so on. And from hearing all of these different opinions, I personally, at least, also felt that there was a risk of potentially experiencing a meltdown.
And so, in regards to how the government at the time was explaining to the public of Japan of what was happening, each day in the morning and afternoon the chief of Cabinet would be giving a press conference to explain the situation. And as well as this, the NISA was also giving their press conferences. And in regards to the content of your specific question, this particular spokesperson gave information that had not actually been reported to the Cabinet’s office, to the chief of Cabinet, in advance to this. And there was an—you know, there should have been an agreement where if the NISA was going to be making any such announcements or having this kind of new information, it should be of course reported to the Cabinet office; otherwise, there would be differences in the information which was being presented.
And so, I believe that that was perhaps involved in the background about why this—there was this change in the position and spokesperson. But this decision was not made by politicians, but internally within the organization.
AMY GOODMAN: So, there’s the possibility of having 40 percent of Japan evacuated. What happened next?
NAOTO KAN: [translated] And so, first of all, in the case of Japan, we do not have actually a rule for—in the case of martial law. Ninety years ago, at the time of the Great Kanto Earthquake, this kind of law was in place, but, however, this kind of function does not exist within the Japanese system. And so, first of all, I was thinking, well, in the case where we would have to evacuate these 50 million people, there would have to be very strong decisions or strong authority in terms of the logistics of this—for example, transportation or how to go about this. However, at the time when I received the worst-case scenario from Mr. Kondo on March 23rd, this was actually—we could say that we had managed to avoid perhaps one of the biggest potential crises which could have happened. Although the reactors had already happened to explode at Reactors 1, 3 and 4, and three of the reactors had already by this stage gone through meltdown, it had been possible also to start to inject water, and so the temperature within the reactors was becoming somewhat less. And so, at the time of this report being issued on the 23rd, we could say that hopefully there would not be a need for such a full-scale evacuation as this worst-case scenario laid out.
AMY GOODMAN: I wanted to step back. When you were weighing evacuating Tokyo, you had the communities closest to the plant not yet evacuated

The American Embassy said Americans should leave.
Other international, other foreign governments told their nationals to leave.
But Japan, you, the prime minister, did not tell those people at the closest areas, like Futaba [to leave]. The mayor of Futaba himself evacuated that community.
Why?

NAOTO KAN: [translated]
And so, what did happen, in order to decide upon the policies for evacuation, how to do this, was those who gathered at the prime minister’s office, so the NISA and also the TEPCO and experts and so on, debated this. In particular, Mr. [Madarame], who was in charge of the nuclear safety committee, was giving advice about this, and upon the advice of Mr. Madarame is how this decision and the policy was put in place for the evacuation.
And so, upon hearing reports of the fact that the cooling functions at the plant had stopped, the first thing that we did was to evacuate those within the five-kilometer radius of the plant, and then, from here, expanding to the 10, 15, 20 and 30 kilometers, giving instructions for people to remain indoors. And this was done straightaway on the days of March 11 and March 12.
And so, upon the advice and recommendations of experts as we were thinking how to set these evacuation zones, and when and how, one of the considerations was that if the broader evacuation zone had been set right from the beginning, then those who were living closest to the plant, because of transportation and congestion, may not actually be able to leave the area.
And so the decision was made to first evacuate those closest to the plant, so within the five-kilometer zone. And then, from there, we gradually expanded to 10, 15, 20 and so on.
At the time, I had been hearing also and we were aware of the instructions which had been given, for example, by the United States Embassy and the embassies of other countries for their citizens within, for example, 50 miles to evacuate.
However, in the case, of course, from the position of the Japanese government, there are so many citizens living within this area, so to move this number of people all at once was something we had to really consider how this could be feasible.

JUST ONE ACTUAL RADIATION TABLE [RADIATION READINGS] THAT THE EPA CONVENIENTLY STOPPED SHOWING TO AMERICANS AFTER IT BECAME APPARENT THAT WE WERE HIT THIS HARD BY FUKUSHIMA FALLOUT...RETRIEVED FROM A JAPANESE WEBSITE WHICH KEPT AND DOCUMENTED THIS FACT.

FROM DECEMBER 12, 2013I HOPE YOU WILL BE ABLE TO ENLARGE THIS FOR A BETTER VIEW.

WHO DO WE TRUST FOR TRUTH?
WE'VE SEEN THAT ALL HAVE LIED SO FAR, ALL OF THOSE ATTACHED IN ANY WAY TO THE NUCLEAR INDUSTRY!

EVEN THE "WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION" HAS BEEN BUSTED!

FROM HUFFINGTON POST :

"The Japanese science and technology ministry (MEXT) indicated that a child in one community would have an exposure 100 times the natural background radiation in Japan, rather than a bit more than normal.

A hospital reported that more than half of the 527 children examined six months after the disaster had internal exposure to cesium-137, an isotope that poses great risk to human health.

A French radiological institute found ambient dose rates 20 to 40 times that of background radiation and in the most contaminated areas the rates were even 10 times those elevated dose rates. The Institute predicts and excess cancer rate of 2 percent in the first year alone.

Experts not associated with the nuclear industry or the UN agencies currently have estimated from 1,000 to 3,000 cancer deaths.

Nearly two years after the disaster the WHO was still declaring that any increase in human disease "is likely to remain below detectable levels." (It is worth noting that the WHO still only releases reports on radiation impacts in consultation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.)

THE "WHO" WAS DEAD WRONG!
"In March 2013, the Fukushima Prefecture Health Management Survey reported examining 133,000 children using new, highly sensitive ultrasound equipment.

The survey found that
41 percent of the children examined had cysts of up to 2 centimeters in size and lumps measuring up to 5 millimeters on their thyroid glands, presumably from inhaled and ingested radioactive iodine."

The denial that Fukushima has any significant health impacts echoes the denials of the atomic bomb effects in 1945; the secrecy surrounding Windscale and Chelyabinsk; the studies suggesting that the fallout from Three Mile Island was, in fact, serious; and the multiple denials regarding Chernobyl (that it happened, that it was serious, and that it is still serious)."

IAEA technical meeting Managing the Unexpected, Harri Tuomisto, Sr. Nuclear Safety Officer at Finland’s Fortum Power, 2012:

Part 4: “If the cooling is not successful, it means the corium melts through the vessel… When this massive amount of corium enters into the containment zone, there are very, very many different energetic consequences… Interaction of molten core and concrete starts… concrete is eroding, and this eroding of concrete, for a long time it was known as China Syndrome.”

IN A PREVIOUS BLOG, WE ALREADY SAW THE VERY SCIENTIFIC DATA OTHER STUDIES HAVE DONE THAT SHOW HOW QUICKLY CONCRETE ERODES, BUT NO NUCLEAR REACTOR BUILDING HAS EVER BEFORE SEEN LEVELS AS HIGH AS WE SEE AT DAIICHI!

(SEE U.S. NRC — State-of-the-Art Reactor Consequence Analyses (SOARCA) Report  : "In the analyses presented in this report, hydrogen [was] released via the failure of the drywell liner by melt-attack.")

COMPARE CHERNOBYL TO FUKUSHIMA?
THAT'S LIKE COMPARING APPLES TO SPINACH!

THERE WAS A FAIR COMPARISON AT THIS WEBSITE, BUT NO MORE:

WAYBACK MACHINE TELLS ME: "Page cannot be crawled or displayed due to robots.txt."

"Despite their significant differences as disasters, Chernobyl and Fukushima are both rated at 7 – a “major accident” on the International Nuclear Event Scale designed in 1990 by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

That is the highest rating on the scale, a reflection of the inherent denial that colors most official nuclear thinking.

Designed by nuclear “experts” after Chernobyl, the scale can’t imagine a worse accident than Chernobyl which, for all its intensity, was effectively over as an accident in a relatively short period of time.

At Fukushima, by contrast, the initial set of events was less acute than Chernobyl, but almost three years later they continue without any resolution likely [IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE].

Additionally Fukushima has three reactor meltdowns and thousands of precarious fuel rod assemblies in uncertain pools, any of which could produce a new crisis that would put Fukushima clearly off the scale.
FUKUSHIMA LIES ON A NOTORIOUSLY ACTIVE FAULT LINE, WITH DAILY EARTHQUAKES COMMON.

CHERNOBYL DOES NOT.

DAIICHI POWER PLANT IS POISED PRECARIOUSLY CLOSE TO THE PACIFIC OCEAN AND CAN FALL PREY TO ANOTHER TSUNAMI.
CHERNOBYL FACES NO SUCH HAZARD.

THE DAIICHI FACILITY PULLED OVER 1,700 FUEL RODS OUT OF JUST REACTOR 4 .
CHERNOBYL'S MELTDOWN HAS BEEN BLAMED ON ABOUT 220 FUEL RODS .

PBS DID A PIECE ON THIS DIFFERENCE IN TONNAGE, ETC
[AT CHERNOBYL] about 50 tons of nuclear fuel evaporated and were released by the explosion into the atmosphere.

The resulting radioactive release, Medvedev estimates, was equivalent to ten Hiroshimas.

"The sum of [Chernobyl] and exposures to people all over the world," writes Bernard Cohen, "will eventually, after about fifty years, reach 60 billion millirems, enough to cause about 16,000 deaths."

IN COMPARISON TO THAT, THE DAIICHI FACILITY REPORTED MUCH, MUCH MORE.
Each reactor is thought to have contained the following amounts of spent fuel, according to The Mainichi Daily News

•    Reactor No. 1: 50 tons of nuclear fuel
•    Reactor No. 2: 81 tons
•    Reactor No. 3: 88 tons
•    Reactor No. 4: 135 tons
•    Reactor No. 5: 142 tons
•    Reactor No. 6: 151 tons
•    Also, a separate ground-level fuel pool contains 1,097 tons of fuel; and some 70 tons of nuclear materials are kept on the grounds in dry storage.

The reactor cores themselves contain less than 100 tons of fuel.

Scientists are not confident that they will be able to assess just how much radioactive material will have been released as this event unfolds, David Richardson, an epidemiologist at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Public Health, said in the press briefing. It might not be until people can safely take stock of all of the fuel that is left, and then only "by that we can make a reckoning of what was lost," he said.

In any case, the NRC recommended Wednesday that U.S. residents in Japan within 80 kilometers of the facility should evacuate. American military personnel were being kept at least at this distance from the site. The Japanese government had evacuated residents within a 20-kilometer radius (and recommended those 20 to 30 kilometers away to remain indoors). "

THERE WAS ONE EXPLOSION AT CHERNOBYL.
DAIICHI HAS SEEN THREE AND ONE WAS NOT REPORTED RIGHT AWAY AS IT HAPPENED BEFORE DAWN AND NO LIVE CAMERAS RECORDED IT AS THEY DID THE TWO OTHERS, BUT TEPCO DID FINALLY ADMIT TO IT.

DAIICHI HAS BEEN LEAKING AND CONTINUES TO LEAK DIRECTLY INTO GROUNDWATER AND THE OCEAN AND THE AIR AND THE SOIL.

CHERNOBYL NEVER CONTAMINATED A MAJOR AQUIFER, AND GROUNDWATER NEVER REACHED THAT REACTOR IN CHERNOBYL.

CHERNOBYL NEVER SPILLED NOR PUMPED ONE OUNCE OF RADIOACTIVE WASTE INTO AN OCEAN.

IT TOOK CHERNOBYL LESS THAN ONE YEAR TO LAY CEMENT OVER THE REACTOR SITE.
TEPCO AND JAPANESE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS ARE SAYING (A) THAT CAN'T BE DONE AT DAIICHI, AND (2) IF IT COULD BE DONE, THE RADIATION IS TOO HIGH FOR MACHINERY OR TECHNOLOGY THAT EXISTS TODAY TO FUNCTION ONSITE TO ACCOMPLISH THAT.

DAIICHI HAS NO PROSPECT FOR CONTAINMENT FOR AT LEAST 100 YEARS, THIS ESTIMATE BEING REVISED FROM THE INITIAL 40 YEARS ESTIMATE.
SOME ARE NOW ESTIMATING 400 YEARS.

THE DAIICHI MELTDOWNS WERE IN 4 BOILING WATER REACTORS, A BWR3 IN UNIT 1, BWR4 IN THE OTHER THREE.

CHERNOBYL WAS ONE RBMK-1000 graphite moderated, 2nd generation reactor without containment.

[NOTE: I HAVE PROVIDED THE EASIEST TO UNDERSTAND AND COMPARE LINKS FOR THE ABOVE TWO TYPES OF REACTORS. YOU WILL DO WELL TO UNDERSTAND THOSE DIFFERENCES. PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION. MOST OF AMERICA'S AGING REACTORS ARE OF THE SAME TYPE AS DAIICHI, YOU SEE.
THE LIST OF THOSE LOCATIONS (BOTH IN AMERICA AND ELSEWHERE) CAN BE FOUND <HERE>.]

ALL FOUR OPERATIONAL DAIICHI REACTORS WERE AFFECTED BY THE TSUNAMI, AS WELL AS ANOTHER SPENT FUEL POOL.

TOTAL RADIOACTIVITY RELEASED BY CHERNOBYL = 5,200 PBq.RELEASED JUST IN THE FIRST FEW DAYS FROM DAIICHI = 900 PBq "into the atmosphere.
GO AND LOOK AT THE CHARTS *** THAT SHOW HOW MUCH RADIATION WAS RECORDED FOR DAIICHI IN THAT FIRST YEAR AND THEN REMEMBER THAT LAST WEEK AND THE WEEK BEFORE, DAIICHI SET NEW RECORDS FOR RADIOACTIVITY LEVELS!

THE EXCLUSION ZONE AREA FOR DAIICHI = 20 km MANDATED, 30 km "VOLUNTARY".
FOR CHERNOBYL = 30 km MANDATED.

THE NEXT SET OF DATA FOR COMPARISON IS BASED ON WHAT OFFICIALS IN BOTH NATIONS REPORTED.
I TRIED TO COPY THOSE CHARTS BUT THE SPACE PROVIDED ON THE BLOG SITE HERE DISTORTED THEM, SO YOU MAY SEE JUST THE FIRST YEAR OF DATA COMPARED BY CLICKING THE LINK BELOW AND SCROLLING DOWN TO THE CHARTS.

*** Radioactive contamination discharge

NEEDLESS TO SAY, WITH RADIATION BEING PUMPED INTO THE AIR BY STEAM EMISSIONS, CONTAINER LEAKS AND BURNING OF RUBBISH, PLUS THE ONGOING, NEVERENDING RUNOFF INTO THE SEA AND GROUNDWATER, THE AMOUNT OF MEASURABLE RADIATION FROM FUKUSHIMA EXCEEDS CHERNOBYL IN JUST ONE YEAR.
WHILE THE RADIATION RELEASED FROM CHERNOBYL IS SAID TO BE THE EQUIVALENT OF 8 HIROSHIMA BOMBS, DAIICHI IS RELEASING THE EQUIVALENT OF ONE HIROSHIMA BOMB EVERY SINGLE DAY SINCE MID-MARCH, 2011!

THAT HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR OVER 1,600 DAYS!

IT DOESN'T MAKE A SMALL DAMN HOW MUCH WAS SENT UP AND OUT THE FIRST WEEK AS IT IS STILL BEING SENT OUT BY DAIICHI AND WILL BE FOR LONGER THAN WE OR OUR CHILDREN OR OUR GRANDCHILDREN WILL LIVE.

AND THAT MUST BE THE BOTTOM LINE OF ANY "COMPARISON" BETWEEN THE TWO...CHERNOBYL AND FUKUSHIMA.

THAT, AND THE FACT THAT, MOST OBVIOUSLY, RUSSIA WORKED LIKE HELL WAS AFTER THEM TO CONTAIN CHERNOBYL... JAPANESE "OFFICIALS" DO NOT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT STOPPING THE LEAKS, SEEMS TO ME.

THE ABE ADMINISTRATION  WOULD RATHER SPEND MONEY HOSTING THE OLYMPICS AND BRINGING MORE NUCLEAR PLANTS TO JAPAN.

"IT'S ALL ABOUT THE ECONOMY, STUPID", AS A BILL CLINTON STAFFER PURPORTEDLY ONCE SAID.

FOLLOW THE MONEY FLOW!
I'D STAY AWAY FROM THE 2020 OLYMPICS, IF I WERE YOU...
NHK reported yesterday:(NOV. 2011)
GOVERNMENT BLAMES CEMENT PLANT FOR HIGH RADIOACTIVE CESIUM IN TOKYO BAY.
(ANOTHER DEAD END LINK...MEDIA BLACKOUT, YOU KNOW)
  • Wastewater discharged into Tokyo Bay from a cement plant has been found to contain radioactive cesium at much higher levels than the government-set limit for disposal.”
  • “It found radioactive cesium at levels of 1,103 becquerels per kilogram, and 1,054 becquerels per kilogram respectively.”
  • “The levels are 14 to 15 times higher than the limit set by the country’s Nuclear Safety Commission.”

IT'S OKAY...THE GOVERNMENT RAISED ACCEPTABLE LEVELS...TO LETHAL LEVELS.
AS WE WILL SEE IN THE NEXT BLOG FROM THE TEA ROOM, OUR OWN NRC HAS BEEN PETITIONED BY THREE PEOPLE, TWO "DOCTORS", TO RAISE THE ACCEPTABLE DOSE RATE IN AMERICA TO A WHOPPING 500% OF WHAT NUCLEAR ENERGY WORKERS ARE ALLOWED!

FEEL FREE TO "BET THE FARM" THAT THE NRC WILL AGREE TO DO SO!

    KAN TELLS US WHY:
AMY GOODMAN: Mr. Kan, can you explain what the "nuclear village" is?
NAOTO KAN: [translated] This is the strongest pressure group politically, socially, and in terms of even influence on the media, the most powerful of this kind of network, shall we say, and even now having huge influence.
AMY GOODMAN: You have said that the meltdown at Fukushima was the most serious accident in the history of mankind. More serious than Chernobyl?
NAOTO KAN: [translated] I believe that the nuclear disaster at Fukushima was one of the—or was definitely the largest, most severe of all nuclear disasters, including going above Chernobyl. The reason for this, as I mentioned before, is the accident itself in Chernobyl was of course immense, but it was one reactor in this case. In the case of Fukushima, we have the meltdown, the melt-through of three reactors, and not only this, but the high number of spent fuel pools also. And even now, radioactive material is continuing to be released in Fukushima.
And this is having a very long-lasting effect that will continue from now. So because of this, I believe that the disaster at Fukushima was larger than that of Chernobyl and is still continuing today."

THE WORLD IS SAYING, IN ESSENCE,
    "GOODBYE, JAPAN.
    GOODBYE, PACIFIC.
YOU WERE BOTH BEAUTIFUL, BUT, SORRY, NOTHING WE CAN DO FOR YOU."

WHAT WILL ANYONE SEE WHO LOOKS AT THAT ISLAND AND THAT OCEAN IN 10 MORE YEARS?
WILL ANYONE HAVE EYES TO SEE?

    OR THE HEARTS TO CARE?

    IS AMERICA NEXT?
    ===

    NOT REPORTED IN U.S. MEDIA:

TOTAL AMOUNT OF NUCLEAR FUEL AT FUKUSHIMA, COUNTED BY NUMBER OF NUCLEAR BOMBS

"What few people understand is that just one spent fuel pool can easily contain the equivalent of 1,000 nuclear bombs worth of radiation, or many orders of magnitude more than that, if MOX plutonium spent fuel is what is being stored.

BUT FUKUSHIMA RELEASED 72,000 to 134,000 HIROSHIMA NUCLEAR BOMB'S WORTH OF RADIATION INTO AIR.
